I have been wanting to write this for a long, long time - but I haven't had the chance to get round to it properly until now! Although, I think the packaging and title of the post gives it away! This is the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation. The product is described as "best-in-class gel performance with first-to-market buoyancy gel technology. This anti-aging foundation protects and hydrates skin with coconut water extracts. From natural-to-full coverage, your skin is awakened to its original translucence and clarity." Other than Dior, this is probably my most expensive foundation that I own, it has it's pros and cons like any other item on the market. But, does it live up to it's $48 (£28.32) price tag?...
First of all, one of the major advantages of the Marc Jacobs beauty line is the gorgeous packaging. In my opinion, it definitely looks high-end worthy with it being sleek black. Not only that, it very much reminds me of Chanel's minimalist style, with the black on white writing and no fussy colours or prints. It's basic, and it works. It's concise in the sense that it says exactly what it is and what's in it.
I picked up this particular foundation with the Makeup Forever HD one which you can read my review about here. Although for me I was slightly put off at first over the price, I decided just to go for it because of the fact that it is Marc Jacobs, I was on holiday and it's VERY difficult to get hold of this line in the UK (other than online shopping with high shipping costs). So, I decided to just take the leap and go for it! I didn't really need much convincing. Oops. You know what? I'm so glad I did buy it in the end.
One of the down sides? It has a rather messy pump. As you can clearly see in the image below, the foundation almost squirts out suddenly and it gets everywhere. You can point it downwards and it'll somehow go up on to your white shirt. It may just be my pump that's extremely stiff, but if anyone can fix this please let me know! I hate wasting foundation - especially if it's a Marc Jacobs one! I also wish there was a bigger bottle available, but other than that I have had no problem whatsoever with this foundation. It gives me a flawless finish and my skin looks glowing after I have applied it. Who doesn't want that effect right?!
What do you think to the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation?
Do you own it/would you buy t?
As always, let me know!
Lots of Love,
