I've recently heard about this amazing competition that FashionChick are hosting, which includes tickets to Amsterdam and entry to Fashion Week! Perfection? I think so. All you need to do is showcase your unique look via the hashtag #FCFINDYOURLOOK. The question is, why should Fashionchick take me to Amsterdam? Even though I seem like just a small town girl from rural England; many don't know that I actually used to live there for a few months. This was many years ago, when I was just 9 years old in fact. It's crazy to think that it was a decade ago! Since then, I've longed to return and breathe the dutch air, ride the bikes and smell the tulips. Plus, Amsterdam to me is an emerging fashion culture, and I would personally love to attend and see through my own eyes how they pull off Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I pieced together this particular look upon discovering this eye-catching powder blue skirt from Topshop. Sound of Music mixed with Alice in Wonderland? It's a modern day look for the young, sophisticated woman....
I loved wearing this pale blue ensemble; it channeled my inner 'Audrey Hepburn' style with the blow-out midi skirt. The texture gathered skirt flows beautifully, and fits to my body shape (as I'm a pear-shape) in the most flattering way. For just £45 (Topshop), it's worth every penny, as it's the perfect summer statement to show off your legs! It also features a single fly zip at the back, which squeezes in your waist and makes it look tiny. Bonus! I also think this outfit stands out against the rest, because it is different. It's smart and elegant, yet fun and 'out there.' With the midi skirt being present on almost every Spring/Summer catwalk, it was the perfect choice to stand out.
I also picked this forest setting as a backdrop in the beautiful countryside where I live in the North of the UK. After spotting this cute little woodland track, I imagined a catwalk at Amsterdam Fashion Week and strutting my stuff down it! I also thought that being in among the nature, this two-piece outfit would stand out against the greenery in a striking way. Also, my outfit is on bang on trend with the pastel blue that I incorporated with the white. It feels and looks like summer clothes.
I always enjoy mixing high-street and designer - especially with bargain finds such as this necklace. I picked this up from Primark of all places for just £3 in the sale. It did used to have another chain with added rhinestones on it, however, I felt it looked much better and cleaner without all of that. So, I simply took it off, and it looked like a much more expensive necklace that would been seen in the likes of Zara and Topshop.
I also bought this gorgeous, detailed top from Topshop, which was in their last chance to buy section of the shop. Luckily, I saved it! The intricate flowers stitched on to it makes it unique, as it continues on through the sleeves, even though the jersey fabric underneath doesn't. You can buy/view this top here, although there only seems to be a few sizes left I did find the exact same style bit different colour here. For just £28, you can't go wrong!
My sunglasses are Marc by Marc Jacobs which can be seen here.
Also, a new purchase (oops!) - these beautiful Topshop white court heels. 100% leather and surprisingly very comfortable, it's both a catch and an investment for £58. They're ultra stylish and a classic pair of shoes - you're always going to need a pair of white or black ones in your wardrobe, ready to wear for any occasion.
I teamed the outfit with the bright orange bag from Osprey, just to give it a little bit of contrast against the neutral look. Not only that, I thought it would act as a great colour-pop against the pale blue and white. After all, Orange is the proud colour of the dutch! ;) Although it is now old season and I believe from TK Maxx, there should be similar on the Osprey website.
What do you think to my OOTD / Fashion Chick entry?
Would you wear any of this outfit?
As always, let me know!
Lots of love,
