Although it's a few days late, I couldn't resist showing my off my top favourite looks from the 2014 Met Gala that took place in New York City. It's known as one of the most important dates in the fashion calender - and I can certainly see why. For starters, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Need I say more? The power couple looked more in love than ever, with the majority of photos being of them embracing. Blake's dress has to be one of my ultimate favourite on the red carpet, she oozes and sparkles old Hollywood glamour in this timeless Gucci dress. It looks very Great Gatsby, yet Lively tunes it down perfectly with minimal accessories and a simple fabric train.
Although the Kimye dynasty has caused much controversy with their latest Vogue cover, they looked the picture of elegance on the red carpet. Compared to Kim's floral fashion disaster from last year, it is a magnificent improvement. The Kardashian looked stunning in a classic blue strapless dress by fashion label Lanvin. The leg-slit dress looked sultry, but not too overwhelming and OTT for a sophisticated event.
One word. WOW. Instagram exploded when young Kendall Jenner posted the very first image of herself in this show-stopper custom-made Topshop dress for her Met Gala debut. Some say she has even out done her style icon sister, Kim. The mermaid shape really suits her slim figure, and the prom-style looks elegant and sweet on the upcoming model. She pulled it off with sleek blow-out hair and a diamond choker necklace.
Next up is Gossip Girl's very own Leighton Meester. I LOVED her Emilio Pucci dress, which has recently been spotted on the A/W 14 catwalk. Full of sequins, rhinestones and all the rest - Meester's dress reflects a Great Gatsby style, similar to that of co-star friend Blake Lively. Not only that, I really like how she had no jewellery with the dress - it would of looked far too much as the dress has so much going on. Instead, the plunging v-neckline of the dress is left bare, how it should look. Instead, she matched the outfit with a similar gold-coloured clutch and nude strappy heels.
Last but not least, how could I leave out Queen B and Jay Z? The ultimate royal-worthy couple in the Celeb-kingdom. Although some criticized Beyonce's look, by suggesting that she was dressed for a 'funeral', I think otherwise. The beaded sheer-black wonder from Givenchy is eye-catching and unique in comparison to other, safer dress choices. The plunging neckline and cheeky see-through underlining showed off her famous curves. The headpiece, burgundy lipstick and dark chandelier earrings rounded off the 'Drunk in Love' singer's vintage inspired look. As always, Jay matched his wife's style with a monochrome theme.
What do you think to these Best Dressed celebs?
Who were your favourites?
As always, let me know!
Lots of love,
