Last week I attended my cousin's wedding, which was such a lovely event. I had never been to a wedding before - the most experience I've had is watching multiple episodes of Don't tell the Bride. So it's fair to say I was kind of excited. However, I must have struggled for MONTHS to try and find something to wear. I couldn't be too fancy - I can't wear black (my mum pointed out it would look like I'm going to funeral, fab) and I can't obviously wear white. It's also a winter wedding, so it wouldn't be right to wear lighter colours. My problem? most of the shops only stock blacks or sequins for the party season. It's fair to say I was close to giving up hope, until I spotted this dark red River Island dress just a few weeks earlier....
I'm really glad that I opted for this colour, it was toned down and perfect to wear for not just a wedding, but for any special occasion. I was always worried about midi body-con dresses, heck, body-con dresses in general! I'm not the tallest or skinniest person in the world and I didn't want to look frumpy. This dress surprised me, by accentuating my waist and not making my hips stick out!
My cute little cream fascinator clip is perfect if you don't want to go all out with a massive one -this one is from Claire's (see here).
It was 3 degrees outside, trying (and failing) to hide how freezing I was!
Eyelashes are from the Millie Mackintosh collection in Shoreditch....
and here is the full look! I teamed the dress with some cream/nude heels to go with the fascinator, which are from Mango for just £35 (see here). The dress, as mentioned, is from River Island but is no longer on the website, however there is an alternative red here and orange colour here. Finally, the clutch bag is from New Look, but is old season so it is unfortunately no longer available.
What do you think to this outfit?
What would you wear to a winter wedding?
As always, let me know!
Lots of love,
